Where the desert meets the sea
Mahmoud Barracuda is one of those people I feel lucky to have worked with. His story is pretty extraordinary: from a nomadic shepherd background to becoming one of the first certified Bedouin dive professionals, he has built a life around his two great loves — the Red Sea and the desert that surrounds it.
Today, through Barracuda Adventures, he shares his knowledge of Sinai and the Red Sea while developing a more sustainable approach to tourism.
When we started working on the brand, Mahmoud had one thing very clear: no barracuda fish. Instead, he wanted something crisp and modern, with influences from both the desert and the sea — and, in his words, a funky beat.
So I started looking for something that could naturally connect land and water. Something that exists everywhere in nature.
The answer was the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio.
The resulting logo uses the Golden Ratio as its foundation, creating a simple, distinctive mark that feels organic without being literal. It became a visual link between the natural world Mahmoud comes from and the underwater world he has made his own.
Boom Shakalaka!
