A website built around hope
Mutima is a psychosocial centre in the Democratic Republic of Congo focused on helping people heal from trauma.
I came to the project after a documentary about Mutima's work was nominated for the Goya Awards, bringing new attention to the organisation and the people behind it.
The website was created to give that attention somewhere to go — a place where people could discover Mutima, understand its work and learn more about its mission.
The name Mutima means “heart” in several African languages, and the organisation's work is rooted in a simple belief: that love, care and a sense of safety can help people heal and build stronger communities.
I designed and developed the website around that feeling, creating a colourful and optimistic visual language that felt warm, human and welcoming rather than clinical.
Bright colours, playful shapes and African-inspired graphic elements bring energy to the experience, while the structure keeps the information clear and easy to navigate.
